Monday, June 24, 2024 * 5:15-8:30pm * Fireweed Community Woodshop

This month artist Jessie Merriam are offering another evening-long, plant-specific deep dive - using print-making, herbal knowledge, and history as tools for getting to know one, single plant - the long-adored rose!

I'll share some of the medicinal and culinary uses for rose along with the history and lore that brought this plant to its place of prominence in our romantic lives. Then Jessie will lead us in creating our own woodblock prints honoring this beauty. We'll have time while carving for more conversation about all that rose has to offer.

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED.

Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 ~ 5:30-7:30pm at Beltrami Park in Northeast Minneapolis

The Long-Term Ecological Research Project is a large-scale, long-term collaboration taking a close look at ecological resiliency in urban ecosystems.

Ramble events are an invitation to the public to connect with the LTER through art, craft, and conversation.

I'm excited for a chance to talk with folks about the medicine underfoot! AND there will community art projects to lend a hand to, along with interesting conversations, I guarantee.

THIS CLASS HAS CLOSED. PLEASE WATCH FOR ANOTHER FIREWEED COLLABORATION COMING IN JUNE!

This is a repeat of last year's collaboration with print-making artist Jessie Merriam - an evening-long, plant-specific deep dive using print-making, herbal knowledge, and history

as tools for getting to know one, single plant.

We'll be focusing on nettles, a nourishing herb with many uses. We'll sample some nettle delights, learn a few medicinal uses for this green powerhouse, and then Jessie will lead us in creating our own woodblock prints honoring this prickly mainstay of early Spring. We'll have time while carving for conversation about this plant's remarkable versatility!
